Mountain gorillas are descendants of ancestral monkeys and apes found in Africa and Arabia during the start of the Oligocene epoch (34-24 million years ago) that have inspired many great researchers, from Captain Robert von Beringe, George Schaller, Dian Fossey to Jane Goodall. It is on this wildlife and gorilla trekking safari in Uganda that you will be inspired by their research. Follow them in the wild and although strong and powerful, mountain gorillas are generally gentle and very shy.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 - Scenic Bush flight to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Breakfast, take a little time to walk back to your rooms and pack your luggage. Our guest representative will transfer you back to Entebbe Airport for a scenic flight to Queen Elizabeth National Park. On arrival at Mweya Airstrip, you will be received by your naturalist guide and transfer to Mweya Safari Lodge for hot lunch. Later walk down to jetty in time for a 2hour sunset boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This is 33-km stretch channel links lakes George and Edward attracting a varied range of animals and birds, with one of highest concentration in the world. Return back to the jetty and join your naturalist driver guide and proceed with a sunset game drive to your host lodge. Meals and overnight at Kyambura Gorge Lodge

Day 3 - Tree Climbing of lions of Ishasha & Bwindi

Early breakfast, check out and start for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest with a game drive via Ishasha sector. Ishasha is famous for its Tree Climbing Lions, unique to this region and multitude of animals. Watch them lie in the acacia and fig trees with chances of spotting a leopard as well. Later proceed with your drive on another sundowner game drive arriving at the lodge in the evening. Overnight at Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp

Day 5 - Transfer to Entebbe/Kigali

After a leisurely breakfast, return to your rooms and pack your luggage. You will join your naturalist guide and drive to Kihihi airstrip for scenic flight to Entebbe or transfer to Kigali, Rwanda via Cyanika border. En route, you will take self-guided tour of the Dian Fossey museum followed by hotel lunch. Proceed with your drive to Kigali International Airport arriving in time for your onward flight back home

Day 2 - Scenic Bush flight to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early morning rise and a cup of your favorite beverage, join a local scientific researcher for his daily game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park devoted to the research and conservation of Uganda’s large carnivores, including lions, leopards and hyenas. This activity is done the mornings when there is ample time to track the pride and chances of finding them are high. On the same drive keep a watch out Elephant, Cape Buffalo, Warthogs, Leopard, Hyena, Mongoose, Waterbuck, Ugandan Kob, and lots of the many small animals and birds. Meals and overnight at Kyambura Gorge Lodge

Day 4 - Gorilla Tracking & Gorilla Conservation Clinic

Early breakfast with your packed lunch, arrive at the briefing point before 0800am for registration and receive a brief with tracking guides lines. There is an early morning entry into the gorilla sanctuary of about 900+ of these beautiful creatures in one of the most enticing corners in the world. Join the range guides walk through the through the undergrowth to track the Gorillas. You will trek Gorillas accompanied by a member of gorilla research team. This programme provides in-depth experiences & research on the life of the Gorillas. Descend from the forest and visit the Gorilla Conservation Clinic returning back to your lodge in time for dinner
