Chada Katavi is truly remote and a real outpost, an ideal base for adventure. Accommodation is in six canvas tents with en-suite bathrooms and panoramic views. Fly camping is also available and there are few better places to do this, with just a mosquito net between you and the African night, it really is a bucket-list experience.

Delicious meals are enjoyed in the intimate mess tent or alfresco under the shady trees around camp, alternatively take a picnic and enjoy a picnic in the bush.

Activities include game drives in open vehicles, prepare to be completely spell bound by the extraordinary concentrations of game, hippo gather in their hundreds in the dwindling pools as the seasonal rivers shrink, and crocodile pile up into the shade of the trees or crawl into the muddy caves carved into the river bank, while across the plains colossal herds of buffalo roam in search of more grazing.
