Baines Camp
A luxury and intimate safari camp, Sanctuary Baines’ is located on a vast private concession bordering the Moremi Game Reserve in Botswana’s Okavango Delta.
OVERVIEW
Named after the 19th-century explorer and painter Thomas Baines, Sanctuary Baines’ Camp offers opulent safari accommodation in just six suites that peep over the tree line from their elevated platform perch. Each suite has a wooden deck area and expansive views over the permanent water of the Boro River. Four-poster ‘Sky’ beds can be wheeled out onto the private deck for a night sleeping out under the stars, over the still, shining waters of the Boro. Beautiful ensuite bathrooms (with an outdoor ‘Star’ bath), ceiling fans, a minibar and even wifi, bring a little more luxury into the frame.
The lodge is managed with sustainability in mind and has been built using sustainable materials, including over 150,000 recycled aluminium cans incorporated within the walls to provide insulation.
Famed for its big cat and bird population, the Okavango Delta is a peaceful haven where animals have been protected for decades and know they will not be disturbed. The concession boasts a diversity of landscapes with desert, dry savannah, lagoon and swamps in close proximity, meaning at Baines’ Camp, guests can see animals up close on game drives, boat trips, mokoro (traditional dugout canoe) rides and bush walks. These activities are all led by experienced local guides who will help guests uncover the secrets of the bush.
