Chobe Bakwena
Chobe Bakwena Lodge is an intimate and privately owned eco-friendly, luxury lodge on the banks of the Chobe River.
OVERVIEW
The personal passion of owners Adam and Jenny Young, Chobe Bakwena Lodge is a beautiful eco lodge and the culmination of years of hard work and dedication. Having worked throughout Botswana managing bush camps and lodges and running their own safari company, the Youngs acquired the land in 2000 and began sowing the seeds of the indigenous riverine woodland that guests will find today.
Following the ethos of “treading lightly upon the Earth”, the property is managed sustainably without sacrificing comfort and luxury. Wherever possible, materials used in the lodge are sourced locally, and staff, including the Youngs, are from nearby villages.
Bakwena’s 15 individual chalets are designed to complement the surrounding natural environment. Those along the riverfront enjoy river views and the calls of the wild early morning and evening, while the chalets built on elevated platforms and set back in the forest, have views over the treetops. There is a secluded Honeymoon Suite and a Family Room with twin beds in the second room.
The entire lodge is situated on its private river frontage, away from the hustle and bustle of other lodges in Kasane. Activities include game drives, boat cruises and guided village walkabouts either on foot or bicycle.
