Jock Safari Lodge

Named after the legendary dog - Jock of the Bushveldt, a real dog who explored this region in the 1800s, Jock Safari Lodge, with elegant, old-world charm, sits within a private concession of the game-rich Kruger National Park.

OVERVIEW

Built on a spot that Jock knew well, at the confluence of the Mitomeni and Biyamiti Rivers in the southwestern Kruger National Park, the lodge is privy to 6,000 hectares of exclusive transverse rights. Set in a particularly pristine region of the park famous for its abundance of Big Five game viewing, Jock Safari Lodge really is a world-class safari experience.

The 12 individual thatched suites are spread out in their own piece of the bush screened by lush trees and reed walls. Their gracious and simple luxury nods to the tranquility and natural beauty of their surrounds. Each has its own private plunge pool and sala with stunning views overlooking the river. Ensuite bathrooms are spacious with outdoor showers and bathtubs.

This region of Kruger is staggering in its diversity, with sightings of elephants, lion prides, or seas of buffalo horns rising from the grass as they lie resting in the growing heat. Morning and evening game drives are with experienced local guides who can also teach you to track the smaller creatures of the bush on foot. At dusk, over sundowners, as the sky puts on a colourful display, tales of the bush are told until the sun finally slips into the timeslot of tomorrow. En route back to the lodge, nocturnal animals such as leopard, hyena and lion are often seen. On clear nights, simply sit and stargaze, warmed by the firepit.

The lodge has a swimming pool, steam room, fitness centre and a retreat for meditation, with rejuvenating massages and treatments offered in the Pilgrim’s Rest Spa.
