Mara Bush Houses

OVERVIEW

Mara Bush Houses is a collection of three private, exclusive-use homes set along the Talek River in the world-renowned Mara North Conservancy. Each house offers a private and peaceful safari experience, making them ideal for families and small groups who want the comfort of their own home in the bush.

The nearby Lemek Hills are known as a stronghold for the endangered African wild dog, making sightings a special highlight for guests. Leopard and cheetah are also regularly seen in the area, while zebra and waterbuck often graze close to the houses. With the help of experienced guides, guests can also discover the many smaller animals, birds, and reptiles that live in this part of the Mara.

Each house has its own character, but all three share the same focus on comfort, privacy, and authentic African style. Every house comes with a dedicated team, including a waiter, room attendant, house manager, and personal safari guide. This allows each stay to be tailored to the needs and interests of the guests.

The Bush Houses

• Mara House is the largest of the three, sleeping up to six guests in three en-suite bedrooms. The house has an open-plan lounge and dining area with a fireplace, as well as a large veranda overlooking the surrounding bush. It is a comfortable place to relax after a day of exploring the Mara.
• Acacia House also sleeps up to six guests across three bedrooms. It has one en-suite double bedroom, a second bedroom with a shared bathroom, and an attic room that is well suited to children. The house also features an open-plan lounge and dining area with a fireplace and a spacious private veranda.
• Dik Dik House is the smallest of the three, accommodating up to four guests in two bedrooms: one en-suite double and one twin room. It has a cosy lounge with a fireplace, an open-plan dining area, and a private veranda overlooking a watering hole. From here, guests can watch wildlife coming to drink throughout the day.

As each house is booked exclusively, guests have the freedom to enjoy the safari at their own pace. There is no fixed daily schedule. Mornings can start with an early game drive and sunrise over the plains, or with a relaxed breakfast before heading out later in the day.

A stay at Mara Bush Houses can include game drives, walking safaris, and cultural visits to nearby Maasai villages. Guests can also visit the Ol Chorro Rhino Sanctuary, where they can walk among resident white rhinos and learn from expert rangers about the work being done to protect them. A visit to the Mara Elephant Project can also be arranged for guests interested in learning more about wildlife conservation in the region.

For those who prefer a slower pace between activities, in-house spa treatments provide an opportunity to relax and recharge. Evenings can be spent around the fireplace or on the veranda, listening to the sounds of the bush as the sun goes down.
