Onguma Tented Lodge

A boutique luxury tented camp in the private Onguma Conservancy on the northeastern edge of Etosha National Park.

OVERVIEW

In the local Herero language, Onguma means, “the place you don’t want to leave” and after a few nights in one of their stunning private tents, you’ll find that Onguma Tented Camp certainly lives up to its name. For those who love the romance of camping but not the reality, Onguma tents have canvas roofs with beautifully designed stone, wood and glass walls, blending African safari chic with a clean, modern feel. Each of the seven spacious tents opens onto its own private deck overlooking an active waterhole making the perfect spot for a morning coffee. Enjoy long lazy afternoons watching the animals go by or pop to the Onguma Sanctuary for a Thai Yoga massage. And when things heat up, cool off in the rim-flow pool.

Their new water-level hide gives guests a great opportunity to enjoy nature unobserved and the angles and light from this well-equipped hide are great for all levels of photographer. Onguma Nature Reserve consists of 34,000 hectares of Namibian wilderness and is home to numerous plains game, more than 300 bird species and four of the Big Five. The Reserve boasts over 30 different animal species and predators, and although not always easy to spot, they are nevertheless common residents of the area. Lions, Cheetahs and hyenas are frequently seen and often heard and there is a healthy black rhino and leopard population.
