Deep in southern Tanzania lies the Selous Game Reserve which is Africa’s largest conservation area. It is a pristine wilderness away from the crowds found in Tanzania’s northern parks.
The Selous has many lakes and rivers which are its lifeblood, making it perfect for water-based game viewing. The Selous is also known for fly-camping and walking safaris where guests sleep out under the stars in mobile camps in the heart of the wilderness.
The network of rivers and lakes offer some of the best boating and water-based safaris in East Africa. Visitors are spoilt for choice when it comes to safari activities, the dry season between July and October offers the best game viewing while the birding is best in the wet season in January and February.
