Highlights of EAST AFRICA

The dry season months in the region are June to early November and December to March. The vast herds of the Great Migration start to move north in June, and early July is optimal for daily action as they cross the Mara River, followed closely by predators and succumbing to giant Nile crocodiles. At this time of year, the far northern reaches of Tanzania’s Serengeti or the Masai Mara in Kenya are in the zone.

February is when the wildebeest calve in the southern Serengeti (brought here by the sweet young grasses that are rich in nutrients at this time of year), attracting predators including the big cats and making for prime viewing.

July to September is peak season for the wildebeest migration and can be busy. The calving season between January and March also offers dramatic action and superb sightings, and is far less crowded.
