Borana Lodge
Borana Lodge is a place so deeply in touch with its natural surrounding, the wildlife, and cyclical nature of life that everything they do – from food, over activities, to the architecture – is imbued with conservation
Sitting in the heart of the Borana Conservancy at the foot of Mount Kenya, Borana Lodge has dedicated its effort to one thing: All for Conservation. As one of the first eco lodges in Kenya that first opened its doors in 1993, Borana has limited its footprint to the absolute minimum: from solar power over a well-thought-out recycling scheme that ties in with their zero landfill policy, an emphasis on local employment, and the conservation of the local flora and fauna well into the future. Borana Lodge puts its money where its mouth is: All meals are prepared following a farm to fork concept. As a member of The Long Run, a collective that advocates for sustainable travel, Borana makes use of the 4C framework: Community, Culture, Conservation, and Commerce.
The 4 stunning stand-alone cottages and 2 family cottages feature sweeping views over the valley. The main house and pool is where guests and guides come together to share impressions and experiences. All guests directly contribute to Borana’s conservation efforts as the majority of the money is reinvested into the land, people, and the wildlife
