Davison's Camp
Nestled discreetly beneath a grove of false mopane trees, Davison's is located in the famed Linkwasha Concession – one of the most prolific wildlife areas in Hwange National Park.
Named after the founder of Hwange National Park and its first warden, Ted Davison. Game drives and guided nature walks explore this private concession.
The accommodation is hidden within a tree line; this classic African safari camp, with nine bright and airy tents (including a family room) span either side of the welcoming main area, that overlooks an open plain and waterhole which is a favourite drinking spot for elephant and buffalo.
The main area comprises a spacious lounge and dining area, leading onto an expansive deck with an open campfire area, perfect for convivial evening musings or star gazing. The refreshing pool and its loungers are beautifully positioned for relaxation, while a small upper deck is an ideal location from which to watch wildlife at the waterhole.
Accommodation
The reception and relaxation area at Davison’s Camp comprises a spacious lounge and dining room that leads out onto an expansive pine deck and an open campfire area, perfect for convivial evening dinners, fireside chats and star gazing. The refreshing pool and its loungers are beautifully positioned for relaxation, while a small upper deck is an ideal location from which to watch wildlife at the waterhole.
Tucked away under mopane trees are just 9 tents which are spacious and well-appointed. Eight tents are standard and one is tailored to families with older children as the camp is unfenced. Tents are relatively basic, with a canvas roof and concrete floor. However, accommodation is comfortable with twin or double beds and en-suite bathrooms. It’s a good option for those wishing to escape the modern world and everyday bustle of life and enjoy an authentic wildlife experience.
Activities
Game Drives
Game drives take place in open Land Rovers and are led by highly experienced guides through a private safari concession which is one of the best regions of Hwange National Park for game viewing. The varied habitats and vegetation types, as well as countless waterholes, mean that drives are exciting with diverse species to be seen.
Guided Nature Walks
Hwange was proclaimed some 80 years ago and has served as a haven for one of the densest concentrations of game in Africa. There is no better way to experience this park than on foot with an experienced, qualified walking safari guide. There is nothing more thrilling than walking within Big Five game regions and seeing animals such as elephants while on foot.
Community Visits
An authentic village experience takes place in a manner that is respectful to all parties. Usually around four hours and guided by one of the local villagers or a guide, it often includes a guided tour of the school, meeting the headman or headwoman and enjoying cultural exchanges with villagers.
