Little Makalolo
Little Makalolo Lodge is situated in one of Hwange National Park’s most ecologically diverse areas, ensuring both variety and numbers of animals year-round.
Many waterholes attract game from far and wide, and the waterhole in front of the camp ensures wildlife activity can even be enjoyed from the pool or the camp’s log-pile hide.
Game drives, walks and cultural activities sometimes end at a “pizza stop” at Madison Pan; a Star Bed allows for a sleep-out under the stars.
Hwange’s original bush camp Little Makalolo is nestled in a dappled tree-line. Its six traditional-style tents (including a family unit), with both indoor and outdoor showers, are connected to the main area by teak walkways, where a towering false mopane tree in the centre of the camp shades a separate dining and living area with an open fire deck for those convivial evening fireside tales under the stars.
Accommodation
Little Malalolo offers luxury accommodation on a private concession of Hwange National Park one of Zimbabwe’s greatest wildlife regions. There are five standard tents which are made up of four twin- bedded tents and one double bedded tent. The twins may be converted into doubles on request.
The stylish tents are spacious and the en-suite bathrooms include double vanities and indoor and outdoor showers. Solar power is used for tent lights and to heat water, ensuring a lighter environmental footprint.
Family Tent
The family luxury canvas tented unit has two three quarter beds in each bedroom. It consists of two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and entrance with an inter-leading door between the two rooms.
Activities
Game Drives
The private Wilderness Safaris concessions are situated in the most productive area of Hwange National Park. The varied habitats and vegetation types as well as countless waterholes mean that game drives are exciting with always something new to be seen.
Walking Safaris
Hwange was proclaimed some 80 years ago and has served as a haven for one of the densest concentrations of game in Africa. There is no better way to experience this park than on foot with an experienced safari guide.
Photographic Hide
This hide is beautifully placed at the camp’s productive waterhole and is the perfect place to spend your afternoon siesta hours. Elephants are often the star attraction at the hide; just watch out for the sprays of water propelled from their nearby trunks.
