Sasaab
Sasaab Lodge is a stunning luxury tented camp with spectacular uninterrupted views, just outside the Samburu National Reserve in the Northern Frontier District.
OVERVIEW
Perched high above the banks of the Ewaso Ng’iro River, each of the nine luxury safari tents has breathtaking views across the Laikipia Plateau towards the jagged peaks of Mount Kenya. Blending Swahili and Moroccan design, the rooms at Sasaab are enormous (over 100m²), and the entire front of each tent can open up to let in a breeze, offering a cool retreat from the African heat. Every room has a private veranda with a plunge pool and sun loungers, perfect for watching the herds of elephant that come to bathe in the river below.
Here in the Samburu wilderness, the landscape is dotted with mountains, a rich cultural heritage and an astounding number of animals, from elephants to cheetah and wild dogs to the ‘Samburu Special Five’ (five species unique to the area): the Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Gerenuk antelope and Somali ostrich.
Enjoy game drives, camel safaris, quad bike adventures, mind-blowing helicopter trips to the remote north, Samburu village visits and fly-camping under the stars.
