Sirai House
With long views over the game-rich Borana Conservancy grasslands toward Mount Kenya, elegant and contemporary Sirai House puts you in the wild heart of Laikipia.
OVERVIEW
At the top of a remote ridge of the Borana Conservancy in Laikipia – with sweeping views of snow-capped Mount Kenya and Laikipia’s grassland plains, Sirai House is heaven on earth. This private home sits in a secluded 250-acre estate surrounded by indigenous forests and the game-rich Kenyan hills and plains. It is the perfect base from which to explore Borana.
More than 35 000 acres in size, Borana is just 17 miles north of the equator and is at an altitude of around 6 500 feet – and so days are warm, nights are cool and region is malaria free. The grounds themselves include a tennis court, swimming pool with a pool house and gym, a spa retreat, helipad, and a private watering hole that attracts wildlife year round.
Perfect for an exclusive-use gathering, Sirai House sleeps 12 guests in six sumptuous guest cottages spread through the grounds for privacy and seclusion. (There is also a pilot’s room.) After dinner in the evenings, the staff will light your way along the path to your private self-contained suite, where you will find a log fire crackling and a hot water bottle tucked between crisp linen. Families with children appreciate Suites 3 and 4, which join onto a large shared drawing room.
Meals are taken on the terrace or in the grand dining room at the beautiful main house. Each dish is lovingly prepared using home-grown ingredients, from the fresh vegetables and fruit, beef from the Borana cattle herds, eggs and poultry form the farm, and even honey from their own bees. This delicious food is complemented by exquisite house wines from the Sirai House wine cellar.
