Zimbabwe Set to Re-open Tourism
After more than 5 months in lockdown, we are thrilled to advise that following Cabinet meetings held yesterday, they have approved the opening up of the airports for domestic and international flights. This will happen in a phased approach. Effective 10 September 2020, the airports will open for domestic flights and 01st October 2020 for International flights. Infrastructure in the region is improved. On safari in Zimbabwe, you can fly out of any airport and extend your safari to Maasai Mara for the wildeebest migration or do gorilla tracking at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest or relax at the Swahili coast of Zanzibar
Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) have been put in place for the reopening of the airports. In addition to this, the National Guidelines for aviation safety and security have been developed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) to ensure the safety of both the travelers and airport staff. These include disinfecting booths at the airports.
Most properties and activities in Victoria Falls are currently closed or only partly operational but this situation will now change with the re-opening of the airports. I will keep you updated as we receive information from the individual suppliers.
We look forward to welcoming the world back to Victoria Falls and Zimbabwe!
