Mountain Biking
Explore Africa on two wheels, from the open plains of Kenya to Rwanda’s volcanic landscapes. Ride scenic trails, spot wildlife and experience the bush from a more active perspective.
Mountain biking offers an exciting way to explore Africa’s landscapes beyond the usual safari vehicle. From open plains and forest trails to rocky hills and rugged tracks, each route brings a different view of the destination.
At Nziza, we can arrange mountain biking at selected partner properties, with routes suited to different ages, fitness levels and riding experience. Some rides are gentle and scenic, while others offer a more demanding off-road adventure.
Why Try Mountain Biking on Safari?
There is a real sense of freedom that comes with exploring the bush on a bike. You can cover more ground than on foot while still feeling closely connected to the landscape around you.
With an experienced guide leading the way, you can learn about local plants, wildlife and communities as you ride. Depending on the destination, you may spot antelope, giraffe, baboons and warthogs, or stop at a community project, cultural site or conservation initiative along the route.
Mountain biking experiences vary by property, but can include:
- Scenic rides on trails and quiet country roads
- Off-road rides through rugged terrain
- Wildlife spotting from the saddle
- Guided rides with local wildlife and landscape insights
- Visits to community and conservation projects
- Routes suited to different fitness and experience levels
Plan Your Mountain Biking Experience
Whether you want an easy ride through the countryside or a challenging trail through rugged terrain, mountain biking adds an active element to an African safari.
