Uganda is known as the “Pearl of Africa,” and it’s easy to see why, with breathtaking landscapes, incredible wildlife and welcoming people spread across snow-capped mountains, tropical rainforest, savannah and sparkling lakes.

The country is home to some of Africa’s most famous attractions: the source of the mighty River Nile, the vast waters of Lake Victoria, the Rwenzori Mountains, and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where visitors trek through misty forest to see mountain gorillas. Nearby, the smaller Mgahinga National Park offers gorilla and golden monkey tracking among extinct volcanoes.

Wildlife is Uganda’s biggest draw. Queen Elizabeth National Park is famed for tree-climbing lions and Kazinga Channel boat cruises, while Murchison Falls National Park marks the point where the Nile forces through a narrow gorge. The remote Kidepo Valley National Park rewards the journey north with sweeping savannah and uncrowded game viewing, while Semuliki National Park and the neighbouring Toro-Semliki Wildlife Reserve protect rare lowland rainforest, hot springs and abundant birdlife. Together, these parks are home to elephants, lions, giraffes, buffaloes, hippos, chimpanzees and hundreds of bird species.
