A dune walk takes you into the heart of Namibia’s Namib Desert, home to some of the world’s oldest and most striking desert landscapes. At Nziza, we can arrange guided dune walks at selected desert properties, giving you the chance to explore the dunes on foot and enjoy wide views across the desert.
Why Take a Dune Walk?
Walking through the dunes gives you a chance to experience the desert at a slower pace. From the top of a dune, you can look across the endless sand and watch the changing light bring out different shades of gold, orange and red.
The climb can be challenging, especially in soft sand, but the views from the top make the effort worthwhile. Along the way, your guide can also point out signs of desert wildlife, including oryx and the tracks of smaller animals that move across the sand.
