Balloon Safari
There are few things more magical and humbling than floating silently across the vast African continent in a hot air balloon.
A hot air balloon flight means an early start, but this is one of the best things in the world to set your alarm for and rise before the sun.
Set off in the dark to the launch area, where you’ll be met with coffee and cookies as your balloon is readied for the flight. Watching the huge and beautifully coloured silk inflate and slowly rise is all part of the fun. Following a safety briefing you’ll climb aboard and take to the skies. Balloon flights tend to last around an hour and you can expect to experience a range of altitudes from barely clearing the treetops to such great heights that animals beneath you appear like tiny insects. This really is the most incredible vantage point to watch the sunrise as the rays gradually creep around the curvature of the earth beneath you. On landing you’ll be treated to a traditional Champagne breakfast in the bush, with eggs cooked on the balloon’s gas burner if you’re lucky. This is an experience that will stay with you forever.
