Horse Riding
“Riding a horse is not a gentle hobby, to be picked up and laid down like a game of solitaire. It is a grand passion.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Horse riding is a passion we understand well and we delight in offering our guests unique riding experiences across Southern and East Africa. There are lots of different options from short rides from your camp or lodge to riding safaris where you are in the saddle for up to seven hours a day. We can recommend properties with easier terrain, no big game and calm ponies, and horses for less experienced riders and children, or exciting, tough expeditions through big game territory or the spectacular, wild and arid Namibian desert.
The Okavango Delta is home to some superb riding outfits, and a canter through the crystal clear waterways as sitatunga dash out of sight is something you won’t easily forget. Alternatively, you may wish to stay at the historic and romantic Deloraine, a grand colonial country house on the edge of Kenya’s Great Rift Valley steeped in history and horses. During your stay try your hand at polo, cross country or just enjoy the spectacular scenery on horseback as you take a hack up the mountain behind the house.
